Clothes are always getting stained from spills and are ruined. The stain remover selection at any convenient store is filled with many different products that say they are the best at removing stains from your clothes. I am trying to determine which stain removers will best treat stains.
Broad Question:
Which stain remover works the best.
Specific Question: Which of the stain removers would work best: Stick, Powder, or Spray.
Hypothesis:
I hypothesize that the stick will treat the stain better than the other two because it is the most condensed. I then think that the spray will do the least amount of impact on the stain because if it sits for too long the solution inside could sink to the bottom. Graph of Hypothesis Variables
Independent Variable: Type of detergent
Dependent Variable: The area of the stain
Variables That Need To Be Controlled: The stain size, The stain set time, Detergent set time, and the rubbing time.
Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation:
Stain- A discoloration produced by foreign matter penetrated or chemically reacted to a fabric.
Detergent- any of a group of synthetic, organic, liquid or water-soluble cleaning agents that, unlike soap, arenot prepared from fats and oils, are not inactivated by hard water, and have wetting-agent andemulsifying-agent properties.
General Plan
If not at school where are you going to put your experiment so that it doesn't bother anyone, you can assure it won't be disrupted by pets or babies, and it will be safe from changes in temperature or movement?
Experiment will be conducted in a controlled environment inside my house. It will be away from any pets that reside in the house because it will be performed at a table in one session.
Potential Problems And Solutions:
PROBLEM:
Any of the detergents getting into eyes from the fan wind.
Controlling the size of the stain.
Forgetting to let liquid soak into the white fabric.
The fabric coming in contact with other stains.
SOLUTION:
Keep detergents away from fan or keep fan off. Wear protective eye wear.
Keep a set measurement of a half teaspoon.
Let stain sit for 2 minuets by using a timer.
Wipe and clear off the surface of the table before startingexperiment.
Safety Or Environmental Concerns:
Detergents getting into eyes.
Experimental Design
The experimental Unit:
Which stain remover works better than the other. Number of trials.
1 Number of subjects in a trial.
3 Number of observations.
6 When will the data be collected.
Before and after the experiment. Where will the data be collected?
At home.

Detailed Procedure:
Gather all materials ( the juice, the stain stick, the stain spray, and the stain powder, and lastly get the fabric preferably white, and half a teaspoon measure.) Take before and after pictures to compare.
Cut the fabric into three pieces.
Measure a 1/2 teaspoon of juice and then pour it onto a piece of fabric, wait 2 for liquid to absorb into the fabric. Measure the area of the stain.
After waiting select one of the stain removers, apply directly to the stain and allow to sit for 2 minutes.
When the 2 minutes are up use warm tap water and a face cloth to scrub the stain in a blotting motion for 1 minute.
Repeat steps 3-5 onto the next 2 piece of fabric until all detergents have been used.
Allow time for fabrics to dry before the final measurement.

Results
Each Stain had come out differently but since the stick had removed the stain the most so it gave me the biggest data change,
Conclusion
At the end, my hypothesis was correct. The data showed that the stain stick had gotten rid of stain's area the most. As well that from the data shows the spray got rid of the least amount of stain shown at the end of the experiment.

We would not have to thrown out if we knew the right stain
Background Research
I had learned a lot about the stain removers I had used. But it was on the items that would give away the project so i couldn't record on here. I took the time to look up the topics and learn a lot about them. I first researched the Stain stick. It works best with most stains. Since I only had limited time i could not wait a whole week for full affect but for the best affect to the stain wait a week. It would be best if you kept one in your car for vacations and if your on the go. It also has a 75% greater enzyme level which helps prevent tougher stains.
The next one i researched was the powder detergent. It is an oxygen based detergent its chlorine free as well. It can be used as a pretreat or just in a normal load of laundry.its ingredients are designed to help rinse soils away.
The spray is safe for all of your washes and can be used with any colored clothes. It also works in any temperature of water.

Abstract:
At the end of my project my results had surprised me to a point. Starting with the spray, the spray had removed the least amount of the stains area. In which partially proved my hypothesis was correct. Then when I went to the powder detergent it had gotten rid of the second most area of stain which had proved my hypothesis. Which then left me with the stick which had gotten rid of the stain the most which turned out to be hardly visible. It Had proven my hypothesis to be 100% correct.
